Meet Elrawd

Elrawd is devoted to changing our local politics to ensure all people in our community have a voice that is represented in our local government.

 BIO

Elrawd was raised in a low income household of thirteen. As the third oldest sibling, he had to work to supplement the family income and help raised his younger siblings after his parent's divorce.

He earned a Bachelors in biology from UCLA and an Associates from Orange Coast Community College. During his college career, he was the president of the EOPS Honors Club, Phi Theta Kappa member, on the Dean's list several times, appointed a role in the Associated Student Government, and earned several scholarships and grants (including a full ride scholarship to UCLA). He performed biomedical research at UCI, was a Teacher's Assistant for molecular biology, and was a Resident Assistant as well.

Volunteerism has been a large part of Elrawd's life. He started volunteering at his church's food pantry as a teenager and during college he lead his honors club to do a clothing drive, raise funds for student scholarships, and campaigned to remove smoking off campus. After graduating college and moving to Santa Barbara, he ran for the SBUSD School Board and afterwards began volunteering with Stand Up Santa Barbara, a countywide political non-profit that seeks to engage our communities in holding elected officials accountable and to unify ourselves locally on matters that affect us locally.

Elrawd has been working since he was sixteen and currently works as a Santa Barbara County health inspector and serves as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Goleta where he is working on resolving the current housing crisis in his town.

Election integrity has been a major concern of his since he was eighteen years old when he first worked as a Polling Place Inspector. After a couple election cycles, he became a Polling Place Supervisor where he managed several polling places. He also volunteered at the Elections Office during the Recall Election of 2021 where he received the ballots from all the polling precincts.

He is also an active member of his church where he plays in the praise band and has served as a Sunday school teacher.
